pps offers SI data and programme listings from single source

pps is now the first programme information agency in Germany to directly reference its programme listings data to the original SI data, including all additional information, transmitted by the television broadcaster. The programme-specific data as defined in the DVB-SI standard are directly cross-referenced for this purpose to the pps programme information data. The service is of particular interest to network operators providing an electronic programme guide (EPG) and is currently available for more than 130 television channels. In addition to referencing the SI Event ID, additional SI information, such as precise programme start and stop times, programme blocking for the protection of minors, parental guidelines designations, and details about audio and video formats can optionally be included.
 
“Television broadcasters are increasingly demanding that the SI data they make available be provided in its original, unmodified form,” reports Michael Medelin, director of sales and marketing for pps. “However, the preview period as well as the scope of the information content in the SI data is limited and depends upon the specific broadcaster. Our new service offers our customers for the first time a single-source combination of SI data and comprehensive programme information data for use in their own EPGs.”

The new combined SI data and programme information service from pps will be gradually expanded over the course of the year to include additional television channels.
